Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (15 September 1860 – 14 April 1962), more commonly known as Sir MV, was an Indian civil engineer, statesman and the 19th Diwan of Mysore. He was the Chief Engineer of Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mysuru city, and also served as one of the Chief Engineers of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad.
Boys' Hostel Visvesvaraya-B (B -Block) is named after his name only. It started functioning in 1984. It is located inside the IET Campus having 104 seats, spread across 4 floors. It has a fully functional mess of seating capacity 60. It has a badminton court and a garden. The rooms are well lit with ambient ventilation. It is one of the best boys hostel of IET Lucknow.
